Man arrested as police investigate suspected Scunthorpe stabbing

Another man was taken to hospital

A man was arrested after an 18-year-old male was allegedly stabbed in the arm in a Scunthorpe nightclub over the weekend.

Humberside Police received a call just after 5.45am on Saturday, February 22 that a man had been stabbed in The Light Nightclub on Oswald Road.

Officers immediately attended and a man was arrested in connection with the incident, but he has since been released on bail whilst enquiries continue. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries, which police said are not life threatening.

Police have launched an investigation and the force released an image of a man, who they want to trace and identify in connection with the incident as he may hold vital information to assist them.

Tom Kelly, T/Detective Inspector at Humberside Police, said: “We’re still in the early stages of the investigation and conducting various enquiries to ascertain the events and circumstances of the night.

“The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries which fortunately were not life threatening, however this could have been very different as knife crime can all too often result in fatal injuries and we will not tolerate the actions of anyone who chooses to carry and go on to use a bladed weapon.

“Do you know who the man in the image is? Can you provide any information or did you witness the incident? If so, I would ask you to please come forward and make contact with us.”

Anyone with information should contact Humberside Police on 101 quoting incident number 95 of February 22, 2020.

Alternatively, it can be reported through the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
