Strong winds partly close Humber Bridge for two more days

It was closed for the second time ever on Sunday

High sided and “wind vulnerable” vehicles will not be allowed to cross Humber Bridge until Wednesday.

The bridge, which enables drivers to cross the Humber Estuary, was closed to all vehicles and pedestrians for only the second time on Sunday, February 9.

Humberside Fire and Rescue has now said the bridge will likely remain closed to at-risk vehicles until Wednesday, February 12.

They told drivers to check on social media before travel and to obey any signs on roads approaching the area.

As of 2.42pm on Monday, February 10 Humber Bridge recorded south-westerly winds reaching average speeds of 31mph but that does not reflect the maximum gusts.
