Body found in search for missing man in Stamford

A street near the river was closed off by police

The body of a missing man has been found in Stamford after police closed off a nearby street.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, Lincolnshire Police believe the man to be 34-year-old David Kenwright.

Kenwright, who is a senior aircraftman at RAF Wittering, was last seen in the Stamford area at around 10.45pm on March 7.

It is understood he was seen outside The Golden Fleece pub in Sheep Market in Stamford.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “Officers searching for a missing man along Water Street in Stamford have found a body.

“The man was last seen in the area at around 11.45 pm on March 7.

“Formal identification has yet to take place but we believe the man to be 34-year-old David Kenwright.

“Next of kin have been informed and we are asking that their privacy be respected at this time.”

“Anyone with information should call 101 with reference 105 of March 9.”

Lincolnshire Police said shortly before 2.30pm on Monday, March 9 that Water Street in Stamford, which is near the River Welland, was closed as it was working with Cambridgeshire Police in the search for a missing person.
