Dean to return to Lincoln Cathedral after safeguarding probe

She will resume ministry at the cathedral

The Dean of Lincoln the Very Rev Christine Wilson is able to return to Lincoln Cathedral following a safeguarding investigation.

The majority of a safeguarding complaint against her was upheld, BBC reported.

Dean Wilson, who was appointed as the first female Dean of the cathedral, took a leave of absence in April 2019.

It concerned her handling of a complaint, an error deemed ‘out of character’ by the investigating Bishop of Sheffield Peter Wilcox.

He said the Dean admitted misconduct and expressed ‘genuine regret’ and had ‘learnt lessons in responding to survivors.’

It was decided, after scrutiny by the Church of England, that the matter would be recorded conditionally and remain on the record for four years.
