Get your items fixed at Lincoln’s first repair cafe

Free community event in Lincoln

Bring in your broken possessions to be fixed when Lincoln Drill Hall hosts the city’s first Repair Cafe this weekend.

The free to attend community event, which is a joint venture between Plastic Free Lincoln and Compassionate Lincoln, has been created to fix as many broken, worn and once-loved possessions as possible.

It will take place between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday, March 7.

Volunteer fixers will donate their time and share their skills to help try and fix a range of items brought in on the day, but no guarantees can be made and fixers cannot be held liable for their repairs.

People may be asked to limit the number of items they want repaired depending on how busy the event is.

Donations of small, new consumables including clothing zips, electric fuses, plugs and lightbulbs, will be gratefully received.

Raffle prizes are also being sought so the group can become a member of Repair Cafe UK and support future events. Anyone wishing to support them should email [email protected].

Louise Brown, from Plastic Free Lincoln, said: “Climate concerns are causing more people to look at the way they live and think about what we can do to help the environment.

“Our Repair Café is all about keeping things from going to landfill, sharing skills, meeting like-minded people and having fun!”
