‘Coronavirus man’ jailed for breathing on police officer’s face

He must also pay court costs

A 29-year-old man from near Boston has been jailed for three months after claiming to have coronavirus and breathing in a police officer’s face.

Lincolnshire Police received a call at 2.01am on Friday, April 3 before attending an address in Fosdyke near Boston.

Luke Courtney, of Snaith Avenue in Fosdyke, was arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace. It was alleged that the incident happened after he was taken into custody.

He was later charged with assaulting an emergency worker and resisting a constable in execution of their duty.

Courtney appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court via video link on Saturday, April 4. At Virtual Remand Court, he was given a three month prison sentence and court costs of £122.
