Happy birthday to Holt primary school!

By Local Democracy Reporter

A school in Skellingthorpe hasn’t let the coronavirus pandemic get in the way of commemorating its 50th anniversary.

Staff, pupils and parents from The Holt primary school sung a rendition of Happy Birthday from their front doors at noon on Tuesday, April 14.

There were nine pupils at school to join in, due to having key worker parents as per government guidelines.

Headteacher Mrs Julie Leach said: “Our whole school community has been amazing during the pandemic and we wanted to make sure the occasion didn’t pass by without a celebration.

“In true Holt style, ideas were shared and the staff, children and their families helped to mark this milestone in the school’s history.

“We are so proud with the resourcefulness, one of our school values, that everyone has shown in order to bring the occasion to life.”

The school opened on April 14 1970 to just 70 pupils, and now has almost 200.
