The Keadby 2 project welcomed an exciting development as the turbine for the new power station arrived in North Lincolnshire.

The turbine will be used on the new 840MW power station project in Keadby, North Lincolnshire.

It is a 13 metre long combined cycle gas turbine that arrived following a two week journey from its manufacturer in Berlin.

Keadby 2 is expected to become the cleanest and most efficient gas power station in Europe upon completion in 2022.

Once completed, the turbine will achieve up to 63% efficiency and enable the UK to use more renewable energy than just coal in the next decade, with the power to facilitate more than 840,000 homes.

Steve Scrimshaw, CEO of Siemens Energy UK&I, said: “I’m delighted to see the turbine arrive on site as it marks an important step in the project’s development.

“It will play a vital role in securing the UK’s energy supplies as we move to meet net zero targets.”
