Mablethorpe NHS & VE Day flower displays destroyed by vandals

Vandals ruined the council’s public display

By Local Democracy Reporter

Flower displays made to honour the NHS and VE Day’s 75th anniversary have been ruined by vandals in Mablethorpe.

The flowers were planted by East Lindsey District Council neighbourhood teams in Mablethorpe.

They weren’t given a chance to blossom, though, as vandals ripped up the display and dumped alcohol bottles on the site.

East Lindsey District Council said in a Facebook post: “Look what happened overnight, vandals decided to tear up the flowers and discard whiskey and beer bottles amongst the plants too.”

Alford and Mablethorpe Police commented on the incident, saying: “We are aware there was a beach party last night (Monday, June 15) and this damage has been done over night near the same location with alcohol bottles discarded.”
