Smoke billows through the air at Stamford school site

Six crews attended the scene

Smoke is billowing in the air as fire crews from Lincolnshire and Leicestershire deal with a fire on a Stamford school site on Friday afternoon.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue were called at 12.33pm to a fire in the area of St Paul’s Street in Lincoln and are advising residents to close windows and doors. The fire was on the site of Stamford Endowed Schools.

The school confirmed on social media that there is a fire on the site and that everyone has been evacuated safely from the building.

The extent of any damage or a cause of the fire had not been confirmed by the publication.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said: “Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are currently in attendance at a domestic property in the area of St Paul’s Street in Stamford.

“Six appliances including the aerial ladder platform are attending. This includes five appliances from Lincolnshire – Stamford, Grantham, Market Deeping, Bourne and Boston, and an appliance from Leicestershire.”
