Spalding deaths now a murder investigation

The investigation continues

The deaths of a man and a woman in Spalding which were being treated as unexplained are now investigated as murders, police said.

The bodies of a man and a woman in their 30s were found at a property on Winsover Road in Spalding at 5.32am last Thursday.

Officers attended the property where two men, aged 29 and 46 were found. They were arrested on suspicion of murder, but police said at the time that they were keeping an open mind over what happened.

The men were released on bail before later being released with no further action.

Police said over the weekend that “this inquiry is now a murder investigation”.

Detective Inspector Andy McWatt, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “I recognise this is a deeply sad time for the family and friends of those involved and worrying for the local community.

“Our investigation is in the early stages but I can update we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.

“I will be in a position to share more information in the coming days. I ask that the privacy of those affected by this investigation is respected.

“If anyone has concerns or information they would like to pass I ask that they get in touch.”

Police are expected to release their next update in the investigation on Monday, June 29.
