Imps away draw against fellow League One side

By Local Democracy Reporter

Lincoln City found out their first round Carabao Cup opponents on Tuesday morning, being drawn away from home against Crewe Alexandra.

The two League One sides will play the cup tie on Saturday, September 5, with the second round taking place on September 15/16 should the Imps make it through.

The fixture will be Lincoln’s new signing James Jones’ first game for his new club, and it is against his old team Crewe.

It will be played behind closed doors, and is the first scheduled game for Michael Appleton’s side of the 2020/21 season, a week before the league campaign begins.

Elsewhere in the county, Scunthorpe United will play at home to Port Vale, and Grimsby Town will play at home to Morecambe.

Lincoln City will also face Manchester City under 23s in the EFL Trophy group stage after the Premier League youth sides were added to the draw on Tuesday.

Manchester City’s youth team will join The Imps in Group E alongside Mansfield Town and fellow Lincolnshire club Scunthorpe United.
