The programme starts in September

A new football development centre for girls has been opened by Lincoln City Foundation.

The Girl’s Open Football Development Centre will launch this weekend to encourage more young females to play football.

The girl’s centre will be run similarly to the club’s mixed development centres, giving people the opportunity to progress through the elite pathway.

The programme begins in September, in line with the start of the 2020/21 football season, and a new appointment has been made to help run the centre.

Amy Kay, Lincoln City Foundation’s new football development officer, said: “I am delighted to bring to you this Girl’s Development Centre.

“Nationally football is now the biggest team sport for women and there is a huge potential for further growth.

“The development centre is our first step in bringing an exciting programme back to Lincolnshire which ensures the female game continues to grow and we are excited for you all to come on this journey with us.”
