Man charged with manslaughter after assault victim dies

Grantham man died after attack outside pub

A Grantham man has been charged with manslaughter after the death of Danny Maguire near a pub in the Lincolnshire town.

The 34-year-old from Nottingham was found with a serious injury after an assault near to the Kings Arms on Westgate at around 11.20pm on February 28. He later died on March 6.

Luke Templeman, 27, of Launder Terrace in Grantham was charged with GBH earlier this year.

Templeman has since been charged with manslaughter and has been remanded back into custody.

He is due to appear at Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing on October 8.

A close friend of the victim, Liam Ross, raised £1,377 through a JustGiving page to “help give Danny the send off that both he and his family deserve”.

On the page Liam said: “His death has been a huge shock to everyone, especially to his mum Liz and dad John, sister Melanie and his little boy Macauley.”

Melanie Spate left a comment on the page to thank everyone for their donations and tributes saying: “From my family to all of you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I cannot express how much this means to all of us.

“It makes me so happy to see memories of Danny and when Macaulay is old enough I will show him all the kind words.”
