A man from Scunthorpe who was wanted by police for five years for numerous fraud charges has finally been arrested and charged.

Ajad Miah, 45, of Frodingham Road, was arrested by officers at Heathrow Airport on Sunday in connection with a number of fraud offences.

He was brought into custody and questioned in connection with a £24,000 fraud from 2003, and a £126,000 fraud in 2005, both in Scunthorpe.

Miah was also wanted for failing to pay a previous £104,000 confiscation order.

After questioning, the man was charged with two counts of theft by deception, four cases of fraud against the crown contrary to common law, and one case of concealing criminal property.

He appeared in front of Grimsby Magistrates Court Monday.
