Tributes as man named locally after fatal Lincoln lake ‘accident’

He went into a fishing lake late at night

A 27-year-old man, whose body was recovered in a fishing lake near Sainsbury’s supermarket in Lincoln, has been named locally.

Lincolnshire Police responded to a report at 3am on Thursday, August 13 that the man had entered the fishing lake, known as Starmers, and had not been seen since.

Underwater searches were carried out and a body was found at 9.25am, with friends naming the victim on social media as Arnie Weavers.

Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Ell Wood said: “RIP Arnie Weavers. You will be missed by many. I love you bro. Fly high brother.”

Arnie will “be missed by many”.
