A student at a school in North Hykeham has tested positive for COVID-19 and some children from Year 8 have been sent home to self-isolate.
Dale Hardy, who is headteacher at Sir Robert Pattinson Academy on Moor Lane, told parents on September 15 the child has not been in school since Wednesday, September 9 and has since tested positive for coronavirus.
After advice from the county council’s Health Protection Team, the school said only those children who have had contact with the student need to self-isolate for 14 days since the last contact.
The school added the students do not need to be tested unless they become symptomatic and their household do not need to self-isolate unless the contact gets symptoms.
The small number of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days since their last contact with the child on September 9.
They should therefore stay at home for nine days and return on Thursday, September 24.
The school remains open and the rest children should continue to attend if they remain well.
Remote learning will be available via the school’s website for all affected pupils. See the full letter here.
Prior to the Sir Robert Pattinson Academy its case, Lincolnshire County Council confirmed on Tuesday that 11 schools, including Lincoln College, have positive cases.
