Young cyclist dies in Grantham crash with lorry

A 19-year-old woman with a push bike has died after a crash opposite a retail shopping centre in Grantham.

The collision involved a red DAF HGV, which was travelling down Dysart Road and a woman with a blue Apollo mountain bike travelling in the same direction at around 4pm on Tuesday, September 8.

The woman may have been riding or pushing the bike, police said.

The woman died at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed for several hours whilst the Lincolnshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit were at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling along Dysart Road and saw the woman, or the HGV which was turning left into a businesses premises to make a delivery, to contact them.

Anyone with dashcam footage is also being urged to get in touch with police.
