Complete rebuild of Lincoln Road in Welton underway

A full 24/7 road closure is in place

Work to completely demolish and reconstruct a section of Lincoln Road in Welton begun on Monday, with drivers facing 13 weeks of disruption and a full road closure.

The works between Honeyholes Lane and the A46 Welton Road started on October 5.

A full 24/7 road closure is in place during the works between Honeyholes Lane and the garage, car wash and car dealer.

The diversion route will be via Honeyholes Lane/Ryland Road/Lincoln Road Dunholme/A46, and vice versa.

Works will involve digging up 280m of old carriageway and fully rebuilding it with nearly 2,500 tonnes of new tarmac.

When finished, Lincoln Road Welton will be up to 2m higher in places so that it can tie into the new roundabout being built.

The works are part of the county council’s larger A46 Dunholme/Welton improvement project, which will see a new roundabout built to replace the current T-junction at the crash blackspot.

The whole A46 Dunholme/Welton improvement project is expected to complete next spring.
