Miss Lincolnshire cancelled and merged with Yorkshire

Low application numbers meant the change was needed

By Local Democracy Reporter

This year’s event to crown Miss Lincolnshire will no longer take place in the county after a low number of entries for the pageant. Instead, it will run alongside the Miss Yorkshire contest in Doncaster next month.

Miss Lincolnshire 2022 was set to be decided at Lincoln’s Engine Shed, with a standalone event for the county’s contestants to compete in and find out who is the standout candidate for Lincolnshire.

However, with a limited number of people applying for the competition in Lincolnshire, it will now be held with the Miss Yorkshire contest at the Earl of Doncaster Hotel on August 6.

It comes after Miss England organisers questioned whether Lincolnshire’s women are “shy” after early indicators suggested that not many applicants were coming for the Lincolnshire event.

The contest will again start with an interview with the judges, before consisting of three rounds – black dress, sportswear, and cocktail or evening wear. The Lincolnshire and Yorkshire competitions will be judged separately.

Once all the rounds have played out, the winners of both Miss Lincolnshire and Miss Yorkshire will be announced, with those crowned local champions representing their county at the Miss England finals in October.

All contestants at Miss England will receive a free makeover and photoshoot with Flawless Photographic in Leeds, and audience tickets are now on sale for the Miss Lincolnshire/Yorkshire event – which you can purchase here for £15.99.
