New Lincoln takeaway offering variety of cuisines all in one place

Curries already launched with more cuisines to follow

A new takeaway has launched in Lincoln promising to offer a range of dishes and cuisines from around the world, all in one place.

Abdur Rahman and Sitab Ali previously ran Indian restaurant Anuradha in Wragby and Wania in Horncastle, and are now focusing on their new third business Proper Takeaways.

Proper Curries launched last month as the first takeaway under the new brand, with the others to follow before Christmas, including Peri Pery’s Chicken, Turkish Kebabs, Gourmet Burgers, Rice Bowl, and Korean Fried Chicken.

The business is located on Clifton Street, but food is via delivery only. The owners are developing a new app which will launch next month, so people will be able to order different cuisines from their various takeaways at the same time.

While the app is being developed, customers can still enjoy traditional curries and lesser known regional dishes such as Rangoon and Punjabi Saagwala via the Proper Curries website, Just Eat, Deliveroo, and Uber Eats.

The other cuisines will follow in November and December 2022.

Co-owner Sitab Ali said: “We have seen a lot of people wishing they could order different cuisines at the same time and saw a gap in the market to do this in Lincoln.”

When asked about the ‘Proper’ part of the business name, he said: “It is a bold claim, but it is all fresh ingredients and we don’t use any food colourings. It puts the pressure on us to deliver top quality food.”

The owners added that they have the “biggest vegan range of Indian food in Lincolnshire”, including a korma where the cream is replaced with coconut milk.

The new business has created four new full-time jobs, and two part-time, and this will increase in the future.
