Company ordered to pay £500k for devastating River Witham fertiliser leak

Thousands of fish were killed

A Lincolnshire-based company has been ordered to pay a total of £510,190 after leaking liquid fertiliser into the River Witham which killed over 135,000 fish.

The pollution, which stretched 46km to The Wash at Boston, has been described as one of the largest environmental incidents ever recorded in the region.
