NHS at 75: Lincoln mum ‘forever grateful’ for saving premature baby

‘The NHS has saved our boy on many occasions and has given him the best care’

A local mum whose son is alive today because of Lincoln’s neonatal intensive care unit team is among many thanking the NHS on its 75th birthday.

Founded on July 5, 1948, the NHS became the first universal health system available to all, free at the point of delivery, and treats millions of people everyday. Samantha John’s son Arthur had a traumatic start to life, being born ten weeks early, weighing just 2lbs 80z.
