Cancelled Lincoln council meetings prompt lack of scrutiny concerns

The impact of meeting cancellations on public scrutiny

Opposition councillors at the City of Lincoln Council have raised concerns about a lack of scrutiny after the next meeting of the full council was cancelled.

Comments raised by Liberal Democrat Councillor Martin Christopher have sparked debate over the number and relevance of full council meetings versus committee meetings. Abbey Ward Councillor Christopher pointed out that with next Tuesday’s Full Council meeting no longer due to go ahead, it will mean that since January this year, only four will have taken place.
