An academy in North Hykeham has announced plans to make a number of posts at the school redundant as part of cost-cutting measures.

North Kesteven School, based on Moor Lane in North Hykeham, has launched a consultation with unions and staff after the academy suffered a cut in its funding, estimated to be in excess of £170,000.

A spokesperson for the school said: “North Kesteven School has commenced a period of formal consultation with unions and staff with a view to making a number of posts redundant.

“The high performing academy, based in North Hykeham, is taking this step to remedy a burgeoning financial deficit.

“The academy has recently been hit by a 1.75% cut in its funding for 11-16 year olds, and a 2.6% cut in its funding for post-16 students. This represents a loss of income of over £170,000.

“The governors have sought to restructure staffing in order to minimise the impact upon students and its community.

“The academy is confident that it will continue to provide a wide range of curriculum pathways and the excellent provision singled out for praise by Ofsted in 2015.”
