Chris is described as a “determined man” by other members of the council and his chosen charity for the year is Lincoln Food Banks.
The charity provides emergency food vouchers for those in need. Chris and other members of the council aim to raise the profile of the charity and its importance.
Chris was raised in Garston, Liverpool and moved to Lincoln in 1994. He has been a councillor for many years, supporting local schools and charities.
He said: “I’m really honoured to for one year be the citizen that represents the city here.
“I want to focus on faith and community groups across the city and to raise as much as we can for the Lincoln Food Banks. I will be working with the churches and the voluntary groups across the city and we will work to make our city the great city that it is.”
The mayor is a role set to preserve Lincoln’s identity of being a diverse and exciting city to live in and visit.
Labour Councillor Chris Burke replaces Conservative councillor Yvonne Bodger in the role.
When describing her year as the Mayor of Lincoln, Yvonne said: “It’s one that I and we [members of the council] will never ever forget.”
