Patricia Truelove, also lovingly known as nanna Pat.
Family members have paid tribute to mother, grandmother and accomplished Lincoln businesswoman Patricia Truelove, who has sadly passed away, aged 82.
Patricia, who founded Truelove Property and Construction Ltd with her husband George, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22.
She had played an integral part in the formation of the construction business working as George’s labourer.
Together they bought old properties and redeveloped them prior to officially starting up the company in 1968. The company also built up a rented property portfolio after setting up a second business called Truelove Flats Ltd.
Born in Lincoln, Patricia grew up on the city’s Moorland Crescent with three brothers and a sister while her father fought in the Second World War.
She was married to George Truelove in April 1955 at Skellingthorpe Methodist Church in Lincoln.
The couple lived with George’s parents in Skellingthorpe before building a bungalow, which they sold to buy houses in Lincoln.
The couple would rent one house and use the income to buy and renovate another one, which they continued to do until 1989 when they moved to Sudbrooke.
Patricia carried on working part-time at the company until 1999, before the business was taken over by sons Paul and Barrie.
Following George’s death in 2009, Patricia moved to Nettleham where she lived up until her death.
Patricia is survived by her three children, Sue, Paul and Barrie; grandchildren Sally, Simon, Luke, Lucy, Matt, Kate, Emma, Harry, Henry and Holly; and her two great-grandchildren Jake and Zack.
Barrie said: “My mother has left a significant legacy in forming the family business through hard work and determination over many years. Without her dedication, time and graft we would not be the company we are today.
“She was well known in the community and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.”
Patricia Truelove’s funeral will take place at 11.50am on Wednesday, October 11 at Lincoln Crematorium, Washingborough Road, Lincoln LN4 1EF, followed by a wake at Washingborough Hall.
The Truelove family has requested donations only, which are going to be put towards community groups in Nettleham, Scothern & Sudbrooke.
