Ten residencies will be run throughout Lincoln to celebrate the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre’s 10th birthday and the cities’ Central Market reaching the landmark of 80 years.
A fun-filled schedule of free events at the market has been announced as part of the project, which is funded and supported by Arts Council England and the City of Lincoln Council.
Centred on a vacant shop pace, a pop-up arts centre has been created where market users and visitors can share in creativity and explore what the market means to them now and what it might become in the future.
Over the course of the following eight to 10 weeks various exciting events are planned from live music to theatre and workshops hosted for and by the local market community.
Mel Langton Art did a live drawing of Lincoln Central Market at the weekend (October 27) and the finished piece will be displayed in the market until December and there are plenty more fun events to come.
Georgina Weller and Martyn Bignell have been working on this project for a number of weeks and they told The Lincolnite: “We have had a great time getting to know the lovely people who work tirelessly in the central market to make it a warm and welcoming place that celebrates Lincoln and its independent traders.”
