Lincoln shopping frenzy calms in second week

Much quieter streets in Lincoln this week

Lincoln city centre is a lot calmer than last week’s shopping frenzy, as we enter the second week of the reopening of the retail sector.

The streets of Lincoln were swept with hundreds of shoppers upon the return of non-essential shops on June 15. Some retailers even reported Christmas-like sales figures.

This week, however, things appear to have slowed slightly as people begin to phase back into normality.

The High Street had plenty of people, but there weren’t queues like the ones at Primark on reopening day.

It was the same story for the bottom end of the High Street too, with shoppers out in sensible numbers.

St Mark’s Square was a ghost town in comparison, with very limited people out in the street and no queues outside shops.

As for Lincoln’s Central Market, there were a few people taking a moment to enjoy the sunshine on the benches, but there was still plenty of room.

Steep Hill and the Bailgate saw very few visitors, as most of the shopping appeared to take place further down the High Street.
