Mum jailed after dumping baby son in Grimsby drain

A woman who hid the body of her baby son in a drain in Grimsby has been jailed for 12 months.

Sinead Connett, 29, of Constables Way, Hertford, pleaded guilty to dumping Baby William in a drain at her parents’ home on Scartho Road in August 2013.

The baby was only discovered in February last year when plumbers were called to the property after complaints about the drainage.

He was discovered wrapped there in three bin liners, with Connett’s parents having no idea at that stage that they were looking at their dead grandson.

Connett had previously pleaded guilty to concealing the birth of a child and secretly disposing the dead body of a child.

A post mortem was unable to establish the cause of death.
