The rural route along the A631 between Market Rasen and Louth has seen no less than 260 casualties from road traffic collisions since 2010, with eight of these incidents proving fatal.

As a result, substantial sections of the road are now subject to speed limit reduction proposals that will be discussed by Lincolnshire County Council’s Planning committee on Monday, February 12, with a number of objections arguing it will unreasonably impact journey times in the area.

Just when you thought the patchwork tarmac debacle outside Lincoln Cathedral was a one-off blunder, the Bailgate area, known for its postcard-perfect cobbles and rich mediaeval history, has been subjected to a similar fate.

The iconic cobbles, a testament to Lincoln’s Roman past, have been marred by unsightly tarmac patches that stick out like a sore thumb amidst the historic charm of the area.
