The heated debate around pedestrianising Sleaford Market Place is set to take its largest twist yet: the town council wants to take North Kesteven District Council to Judicial Review over the proposals it ploughed through against the wishes of the local community.

NKDC’s plan for Sleaford Market Place has been the saga of the year so far for residents in the town, with opposition continuing to mount against the council’s vision for the site.

As council taxes across the county look set to jump again this year, data reveals that Greater Lincolnshire’s councils owe a combined £1.1 billion in debts to lenders.

We are at a pivotal moment in the realm of council finances. In the last 12 months we have seen two of the largest councils in the country, Birmingham and Nottingham, declare effective bankruptcy, and just this week it was reported that Middlesbrough will ask the government for a £15 million loan.
