New finance chief for university

Financial: Facing tougher budgets, the University of Lincoln employed a new finance officer for the years ahead.

The University of Lincoln hired a new Chief Finance Officer to start in April 2011.

Deborah Harry (pictured) will be replacing Joanne Jones, who is leaving to become Director of Finance and Legal Services at Oxford Brookes University.

Harry currently works at the University of Northampton, where she was Finance Officer for almost four years.

She said: “I am proud to have been part of the growth and success of the University of Northampton over the last few years.

“I am looking forward to joining the University of Lincoln at an exciting time of its development, working with its new Vice Chancellor, Mary Stuart.”

University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Mary Stuart said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Deborah as our Chief Finance Officer.

“Her extensive experience will provide us with considerable strength in challenging times ahead.

“I know she will make an important contribution to our ambition to become a ‘Top 50’ university.

“We will be working with Deborah over the coming weeks to ensure a successful transition is achieved.”

The appointment comes after the university needed to digest cuts and the new tuition fee hike set up by the coalition Government.
