Don’t leave bikes unlocked, warns Lincolnshire Police

Bike theft: Lincolnshire Police are warning bikers to keep their bikes safe after a spate of thefts in Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Police are reminding cyclists not to leave their motobikes or scooters unlocked in gardens after several thefts in the city.

This weekend, a black RMR 125 Superbyke from the front garden of a house in Elder Street (pictured) was taken between 4am and 6.30am on August 17.

On August 18 just before 1am, a blue Kymco scooter was taken outside a house on Derby Street. However, this bike was later recovered.

Inspector Mark Garthwaite said: “These are relatively high value vehicles and we are seeing plenty of examples where they are being left unlocked in front gardens.

“We would urge people to at least try and secure vehicles when they are left unattended like this.”

Anyone with information should call Lincolnshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
