Ice Rink to return to Lincoln this winter

Fun on ice: The Lincoln Ice Rink is making a comeback in City Square after a year’s break.

The Lincoln Ice Rink is making a comeback in City Square from December 1 to 30, after a year’s break due to a lack of funding.

The Rink was one of the city’s star attractions two years ago, with around 20,000 people taking to the ice during its stay.

Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong said: “Lots of people have been urging us to bring back the Ice Rink and we are hoping it will prove even more popular than last time around.

“We will be offering 45-minute sessions on the rink and we are drawing-up some great deals to suit everyone from single skaters to groups.

“Companies are being offered a superb opportunity to sponsor display boards circling the rink and, of course, we hope to get plenty of businesses booking this attraction for festive staff outings with a difference.”

More winter events

Many other events are in the pipeline, including the arrival in Lincoln of six fine reindeer from the Cairngorms on December 13.

They will be the stars of our Reindeer Parade and make their way from Newport Arch to the Cornhill.

The traditional Lantern Parade on December 20 will see schoolchildren form a shiny cavalcade of light, which winds its way from the Cornhill, up Lincoln’s Greatest Street – Steep Hill – up to Castle Hill.

During the Christmas Market uphill from December 6 to 9, the Swedish Christmas Market will transform St Mark’s into a small version of Scandinavia.
