Interior designs picked for Lincoln Energy from Waste plant

Strong design: Interior designers have been drafted in to help complete the office and consumer-facing section of the EfW plant.

Interior designers have been picked to design the office accommodation for the new recycling centre in North Hykeham.

Birmingham-based Monteith Scott will be consulting the Energy from Waste (EfW) plant on the edge of Lincoln on finishes and lighting for offices and the visitor centre.

Lincolnshire County Council’s EfW plant, which started being built in mid-2011, is a green waste centre aiming to treat the county’s waste more sustainably.

The planet will reduce the amount of waste sent to a landfill, treating 150,000 tonnes a year of waste itself per year, and generate electricity for over 10,000 homes.

It will be operated by recycling and energy company FCC Environment.

Design director Derek Matthews said: “We are excited to be working on this innovative project, alongside Weedon Architects.

“As part of the consultations we have suggested ways to visually link the ground floor reception area with the upper floors to create better transparency.”
