All Lincoln council homes to be fitted with smoke alarms

Life-saving: The City of Lincoln Council will install smoke alarms in all of its social properties over the next few months.

The City of Lincoln Council will hard wire all of its council properties with a smoke alarm.

With the help of Aaron Services, the smoke detectors will be in all of the properties by Christmas, the council said.

Council tenants are currently being informed of the plans so they can let the council know when is best for the alarms to be fitted in their home.

Graeme Twell, Gas Contract Surveyor at the council, said: “We are currently making contact with all our tenants to let them know our plans.

“Having these alarms hard-wired means tenants will not have to change batteries on a regular basis and will even work in a power cut thanks to a back-up supply.”

Colin Boyd, Contracts Manager at Aaron Services, added: “Smoke alarms are life-saving devices that provide crucial extra time for people to escape in the event of a fire.

“With this in mind we would like to hear from any tenants that do not have a smoke alarms in their property so we can install one.”
