Allo Allo’s Mimi LaBonq to switch on Lincoln’s Christmas lights

Christmas is coming: Actress Sue Hodge, who starred in hit comedy Allo Allo as feisty waitress Mimi LaBonq, will be switching on this year’s Lincoln Christmas lights.

Actress Sue Hodge, who starred in more than 60 episodes of the hit comedy Allo Allo as feisty waitress Mimi LaBonq, will be switching on this year’s Lincoln Christmas lights.

The diminutive actress will be officially pushing the button to illuminate the city’s festive decorations on November 21 alongside Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Patrick Vaughan.

The festivities will start at 5.30pm at the War Memorial on the High Street and the lights will be switched on at 7pm.

The official switch on will be part on an evening of events including a civic procession from the Guildhall, a Christmas medleys performance by County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (CAODS), and special guest appearance by Pudsey Bear.

All the festivities on the evening will be compered by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior.

Kate Fenn, Civic Manager at the City of Lincoln Council, said: “We are delighted that Sue has agreed to turn on the Christmas lights this year.

“She played such an iconic role on Allo Allo and has starred in many fantastic stage shows since.

“In addition to her acting she has also donated her time to many charity events, including ones in Burton, where she now lives.

“The switching-on of Lincoln’s Christmas Lights is a fantastic event and is always well supported, whatever the weather!”
