Shopping centre names Lincoln photo competition winner

Lincoln’s winning scene: The Waterside Shopping Centre announced its winner of the ‘Vision of Lincoln’ photography competition.

Lincoln photographer Adrian Leggett has been announced as the winner of Waterside Shopping Centre’s photography competition.

Leggett scooped the Going Digital £200 photography course prize after his photograph of iconic Steep Hill in the Vision of Lincoln competition.

The final five images, chosen by an independent judging panel in September, showcased a selection including winter Lincoln landscapes, cathedral silhouettes and Brayford scenes.

Visitors to the shopping centre’s Facebook page were then asked to vote for their favourite image by “liking” one of the submitted photographs from the gallery.

Adrian said: “I am delighted to have won the Vision of Lincoln photographic competition, and am looking forward to booking my course and taking many more pictures of Lincoln in the future.

“I love architecture shots and wanted to try something different, so I took the picture one Sunday morning at around 5:30am, with the camera low down on the tripod using a wide angle lens to add lens distortion. I shot five photos of varying exposure and processed them as a HDR image and tone mapped using Photomatix.”

Chantelle Henderson, Marketing Co-ordinator at the Waterside Shopping Centre, added: “We were really pleased with the calibre of entries we received, and it was a difficult decision choosing the top five, Adrian was a very worthy winner.

“The competition marked the beginning of our multi-million pound redevelopment project, which will see the centre transform with the arrival of H&M and Next in autumn 2014.

“This is our vision, and we wanted to challenge the people of Lincoln to capture their own visions of the city.”
