Man pleads not guilty over Lincoln mother’s murder

Not guilty plea: A Yorkshire man pleaded not guilty to the murder of his mother at her Lincoln village home.

A man due to stand trial charged with the murder of his mother in a Lincoln village pleaded not guilty in court.

As previously reported, police charged Nigel Constable (52), of Sherburn Road, Rastrick, Brighouse, West Yorkshire, with the murder of his mother Betty Constable (79), of Merleswen, Dunholme, near Lincoln.

At Lincoln Crown Court on January 10, he pleaded not guilty. He has been remanded in custody and a trial will begin on March 24.

The incident happened in September 2013, when the woman was taken to Lincoln County Hospital from her home in Dunholme, near Lincoln.

Staff at the hospital raised concerns about the woman’s condition to Lincolnshire Police.

Betty Constable died in hospital on September 24, 2013 due to her injuries.

Officers carried out initial enquiries and launched a murder investigation, then police arrested Nigel Constable in the West Yorkshire area on September 25 and charged him with murder.
