Lincoln College hand over £11k to four charities

Big fundraisers: Lincoln College raised £11k to give out to four major charities with local branches.

Local representatives from four UK charities visited Lincoln College to receive their share in £11,000 raised for them.

A Lincoln College team raised the large sum for Candles, Macmillan Cancer Support, British Heart Foundation and The British Polio Fellowship.

The presentation event took place at the Deans Sport and Leisure facility on May 22.

Cancer research charity Candles received £5k, whilst British Heart Foundation and Macmillan both accepted £2.5k and The British Polio Fellowship received £1,000.

Each year, college staff look at ways to fundraise for different causes, such as staff lotteries, the Three Peak Challenge, summer balls, pamper evening, Wear It Pink days, Christmas raffles, staff calendars, Lincoln 10k, quiz nights and more.

Since 2010, Lincoln College has raised over £47k for charities, and will hit £50k after an upcoming Lake District Challenge next month.
