Audience verdict: Students grill Lincoln MP candidates at BGU hustings

Election debate: Lincoln students put candidates standing to become the city’s next MP through their paces at a hustings event at BGU.

Students studying at Bishop Grosseteste University put the candidates standing to become Lincoln’s next MP through their paces at a passionate hustings event on April 13.

The audience quizzed the candidates on a wide range of issues, with the most heated debate coming over immigration and the lack of policies aimed at younger people.

Arguments amongst audience members also broke out towards the end of the evening, especially between Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat supporters.

UKIP’s Tony Wells stood in for Nick Smith who unable to attend due to work commitments.
