A Lincoln nightclub has closed after owners battled with licensing restrictions.

Status Bar & Nightclub on Silver Street was said to have been serving between 400 and 500 customers on a Friday and Saturday night in the centre of Lincoln.

Last year, the company was forced to reduce its opening hours and modify the way it operated after crimes had been linked to the venue, which sparked a review of its licence.

Between September 2014, when the club opened, and April 2015, police had seen a rise of more than 300% in the number of incidents reported to them.

The venue’s license was reduced to 3am. However, the decision was overturned when Status applied for a new premises licence to serve until 4am.

The new licence was granted with the condition that the club had a last entry policy at 3am and they would be allowed to serve alcohol until 4am.

The venue now say that this wasn’t enough to be able to keep the business alive. Doors have now closed.

The news comes just weeks after The Forum Wetherspoons closed next door.
