Some 1,200 cyclists signed up to push themselves to their limits in the sixth edition of the Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive on Saturday, May 14.

The sportive, organised by ITP Events and sponsored by Impsport Clothing, saw contestants take part over four distances, ranging from the original 102-mile race to the shortest 33-mile ride.

The popular event was created in 2010, and has returned to city ever since.

Participants embarked on a gruelling ride through the Lincolnshire Wolds, taking part in a closed road cobbled climb of Michaelgate, before finishing in Castle Square at the bottom of the Lincoln Cathedral.

The action continues on Sunday, May 15, when professional athletes take on the Lincoln Grand Prix and the first ever Women’s Grand Prix.

A number of road closures are in place in Lincoln throughout the weekend.
