North Lincolnshire streets will benefit from over £16.5m of improvements during 2016/17.

Over 100 schemes will gain from the funding, which will be spent on surface treatments, footway improvements, bridges, street lighting, street furniture and signals.

Over £14m has been allocated from the government via the council’s Local Transport Plan, with a further £2.45m from North Lincolnshire Council.

As well as significant potholing repairs, many footpaths will be resealed across the county.

Improvements to the county:

Street lighting will be improved in Brigg, Howsham, Kirton Lindsay and Ashby.

The traffic signals on Britannia Corner and on Mary Street in Scunthorpe will be upgraded, whilst flood alleviation works will be carried out at Woodlands View, Barnetby and Reapers Rise, Epworth.

The bridge on Thorne Road in Sandtoft will also be repaired. Drainage and road improvement works will be undertaken at Church Street in Scawby. These are just a few examples of the plans in place.

The additional funding from North Lincolnshire Council will support this year’s £350,000 programme of carriageway and footway resurfacing that has already started.

It will fund improved flooding and drainage schemes, traffic calming measures and school safety zones together with new pedestrian crossings for Kirton, Barton and Bottesford.
