Underwater search teams have recovered the body of a man from the River Trent in Scunthorpe.

The search was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation into missing Burringham man Neil Fairburn, 50, who was last seen at around 2am on Sunday, August 14.

His silver Vauxhall Astra was later found abandoned near to the tree line of the cemetery, close to the River Trent, off the High Street, Burringham.

The man’s body was recovered close to Gunness Wharf and a post mortem examination is due to take place later today (Thursday, August 18).

Mr Fairburn’s family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
