Overnight closures of Lincoln city centre roads for East West Link works

A number of Lincoln city centre roads will be closed overnight this week as the work on the East West Link Road enters its final stages.

Work on the £22 million project began in November 2014, and vehicles are expected to be able to use the new road by September.

Roadworks are scheduled from Monday, August 8 until Sunday, August 14 to allow the surfacing of the new road on Kesteven Street.

Lincolnshire County Council has said that the works are taking place overnight to minimise disruption to businesses and residents.

A full list of closures is below:

  • Monday, August 8 and Tuesday, August 9: Kesteven Street (east of Pelham Bridge) will be closed at 8pm from the Pelham centre access to the mini roundabout. Then Canwick Hill lane 1 southbound and the remainder of Kesteven Street will be closed at midnight once Tesco closes. The roads will reopen at 6am the following mornings.
  • Wednesday, August 10: Kesteven Street will be closed overnight from Pelham centre access up to the mini roundabout at 8pm and Great Northern Terrace will be closed at 11pm once the gym closes. These roads will reopen at 6am.
  • Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12: Kesteven Street will be closed from Clifton Street up to the mini roundabout at 8pm and Great Northern Terrace will be closed at 11pm on Thursday and 10pm on Friday, once the gym closes. On Thursday night lane 1 on Canwick Road southbound will also be closed. All roads will reopen at 6am.
  • Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14: Kesteven Street will be closed overnight from Canwick Road junction up to mini roundabout at 10pm until 5am to enable final surfacing of the new road to go ahead. The closure of lane 1 on Canwick Road southbound will also be required.
