A Boston man who attacked two of his flatmates with a chair leg has been jailed for 12 months.

Antanaz Galdikas, 39, admitted striking one of the men two or three times with the chair leg after accusing him of taking money from his mother.

Lincoln Crown Court was told a second flatmate was also injured as he tried to intervene to protect his friend.

The court heard police were called at 5.30am on July 9 after one of the men fled into Boston Market Place and rang 999. When police arrived the man had injuries to his face and defensive injuries to his arms.

Officers were deployed to the flat in Frampton Place where they found Galdikas and his other flatmate in the garden.

Andrew Scott, prosecuting, said one of the victims suffered a broken nose and bruising to an arm while the other man had bruising to his arms and legs.

Gladikas accepted losing his temper and attacking one of the men but said he did not intend to harm his other flatmate.

Michael Cranmer-Brown, mitigating, told the court Galdikas lost his temper after seeing one of the men, who did not work, regularly taking money from his mother.

Mr Cranmer-Brown said: “It is his explanation for what happened. He would often see the woman who would come crying to him on a Friday night.

“He is a hard working man but had been drinking when this happened.”

The court heard Galdikas has spent over ten years in the UK after moving from Lithuania and had worked hard to become a forklift truck driver.

Galdikas, of now of Granville Street, Boston, admitted two charges of assault on July 9 this year.

Passing sentence Judge Michael Heath told him that he had chosen to take the law in to his own hands.

Judge Heath said: “This offence happened in the home of your flatmates. There was a sustained attack and a chair leg was used as a weapon.”
