A 37-year-old Immingham man has been charged with offences including possession of an imitation firearm and child neglect following a dramatic five hour standoff with police earlier this week.

Richard Jackson, of Ancholme Avenue, is due to appear at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 7, charged with eight offences.

As previously reported, armed response officers, negotiators and community officers were called to defuse the situation on the afternoon of September 5, with residents urged to avoid the area.

Jackson has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possessing an imitation firearm
  • Two counts of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
  • Child Neglect
  • Criminal Damage to Property
  • Dangerous Driving
  • Driving without insurance
  • Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence

Humberside Police are also appealing for information on potential shots fired in the vicinity of the standoff.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The investigation into the Ancholme Avenue firearms incident on Monday is very much still ongoing and detectives are now investigating the finer details of the incident.

“We still need to speak to anyone who may have seen shots fired in Alden Close near Barnoldby House on Monday, September 5.

“Officers also need witnesses who saw a dark blue Vauxhall Astra car on a 52 plate allegedly driving dangerously the same day.

“Any information you could offer needs to be called into Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 330 of September 5.”
