A Lincolnshire husband murdered his wife before committing suicide, detectives have said.

As previously reported, officers and paramedics were called to a house on Bude Close in New Waltham near Cleethorpes following reports of a possible death at the property shortly after 4am on Tuesday, September 6.

Police have now named the couple as 46-year-old Karen Arnold and her husband 55-year-old Stephen Edward Arnold.

Detectives have said that Stephen Arnold murdered his wife before taking his own life.

Police have repeated that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and specially trained officers are continuing to support the family.

Specially trained officers are continuing to support their family.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Bob Clark, who has led the investigation, said:

It is clear from the investigation that Stephen Arnold murdered his wife before taking his own life.

“These are tragic circumstances and specially trained family liaison officers are supporting the family of the couple.

“Their family have been kept informed of enquiries throughout the investigation.

“I am well aware of the public interest in the case, but I would urge the media to let the family grieve in peace.

“Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and preparing a file for the coroner.”
